On the occasion of Refugee Week 2026 and World Refugee Day on 20 June, the Greek Forum of Refugees is organizing a series of activities that highlight the importance of coexistence, mutual understanding, and the active participation of refugees and migrants in society.
The first events of the week brought together people of different ages, cultures, and backgrounds, creating spaces for dialogue and meaningful interaction. Students, teachers, parents, members of refugee and migrant communities, as well as visitors from abroad, took part in activities that encouraged the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and cultural traditions.
Through interactive activities, storytelling, cultural presentations, and workshops, participants had the opportunity to get to know one another, discuss issues related to migration and asylum, and discover the diverse journeys, skills, and talents that enrich our communities.

Members of the Greek Forum of Refugees’ communities played a particularly important role in these events. They actively contributed to the activities, shared personal stories and experiences, and showcased elements of their cultural heritage through creative workshops. Their participation highlights the fact that refugees and migrants are not merely recipients of policies and services, but active members of society who make valuable contributions to community life.
At a time when public discourse on migration and asylum is often shaped by fear, polarization, and exclusion, Refugee Week serves as a reminder of the importance of direct human connection. Meeting one another, engaging in dialogue, and working together are powerful ways to challenge stereotypes and foster more inclusive societies.
For the Greek Forum of Refugees, integration is a two-way process based on participation, mutual respect, and equal coexistence. Through the activities of Refugee Week, we continue to create opportunities for people from different communities to come together, strengthening social cohesion and highlighting the positive contribution of refugees and migrants in Greece.
We would like to warmly thank everyone who has participated in and supported the Refugee Week 2026 activities so far. The celebrations continue, and we look forward to sharing our upcoming initiatives and events in the days ahead.
