In recent months, we have been supporting dozens of families of recognized refugees who are being forced to leave the camps – especially on the islands – with no alternative solutions. They all end up in Victoria Square.
There is no framework of guidance or support in place for these individuals. The only “solution” is the well-known exploitative apartments we’ve talked about many times before. Everyone is just waiting to receive their travel documents so they can leave, mostly for Germany.
At the same time, returns from other European countries, mainly Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, have been increasing. We constantly receive messages and emails from there, asking what someone can do when they are returned to Athens without housing or support.

There is not even temporary accommodation or support. The situation keeps getting worse!
