In early May, Greek media reported that the Ministry of Migration and Asylum verbally instructed refugee camp authorities across the country to evict people granted International Protection and rejected asylum seekers from the camps.
In response, a group of organisations, including ours, has released a joint statement calling on the Ministry to:
-
- Rescind the eviction order
-
- Ensure no one is removed unless safe, appropriate housing is secured enabling them to access their rights in a manner that respects their human dignity
-
- Implement a dignified, sustainable support and integration framework for all people on the move, regardless of legal status
