Inclusion and coexistence are built through getting to know one another, dialogue and human connection. At the Greek Forum of Refugees, we continue to open our doors to young people who want to listen, engage in conversation and get to know our communities.
Last Wednesday, we welcomed students from Tanzania to our offices. Our Vice President, Sarah Massay, presented the Forum’s history and work, the challenges refugees and migrants face, and the importance of participation, self-organisation and communities being represented by their own members.
This was followed by a workshop on making handcrafted accessories with special cultural significance, led by Sarah Massay and women from the HARTS HAnds on Refugees Talents and Sustainability. Through creativity and conversation, the women shared their knowledge, skills and experiences with the students.
For us, integration also means people coming together, learning from one another and participating together. Every gathering like this is an opportunity to challenge stereotypes and get to know one another beyond what we hear or read about refugees and migration.
We thank the students, the trainers and everyone who helped make this gathering possible! The doors of GFR and our communities remain open.
