We celebrate the International Day of Democracy (15/9) with the official launch of our initiative Democracy4All

The Greek Forum of Refugees (GFR) announces the official launch of Democracy4All: an initiative for active and meaningful participation advocating to turn community voices into real inclusion and participation in decision-making processes that shape our lives. The initiative is the result of many years of organizing and the continuation/evolution of our Self-Advocacy efforts together with communities.

On 13/9, the Board of our association, together with members and friends, organized an open, friendly meeting to celebrate the launch of the initiative and co-design the next steps. The message was clear: at a time when democracy and social cohesion are under threat, we respond with active participation, solidarity and responsibility.

Democracy4All is not just a project or a campaign. It is a movement, a space, and a tool by and for people with lived experience of exclusion and marginalisation, enabling us to represent ourselves, claim our rights, co-shape, and defend democracy and our future. Our goal is a society and a decision-making process without exclusions, where everyone has a voice, a role, and access to the centres of decision-making.

More information about our actions and what we advocate for can be found on our new website: www.democracy4.gr. The content is continuously updated with tools, stories, and ways to join the effort.

We have already presented Democracy4All at the Migrant & Refugee Integration Council (SEMP) of the City of Athens, bringing the right to political participation and voting to the official table of dialogue.
