We stand with the Greek Forum of Migrants (GFM)
The Greek Forum of Migrants (GFM) has recently published a well-documented and strong statement regarding the Draft Law on Migration currently under public consultation (July 2025).
As the Greek Forum of Refugees (GFR), we support and join our voice with GFM, which reflects the concerns of thousands of people who live and work in Greece.
Among the key points raised:
-
- The criminalization of “irregular” residence
-
- The abolition of the article on “exceptional reasons”
-
- The extension of administrative detention
-
- The problematic designation of “safe third countries” and return procedures
-
- The complete absence of integration policies
We believe that a fair, functional, and humane migration policy cannot be built on exclusion, opacity, and insecurity. We support the call for a substantial revision of the Draft Law.
