Mr Yonous Muhammadi, President of the Greek Forum of Refugees, was invited to take part in the annual conference of City Lab, which brings together the most innovative leaders across all aspects of civic life to discuss the bold ideas and strategies that are making a transformative impact on communities around the world.
Mr Muhammadi represented the Greek Forum of Refugees in the conference which took place in the capital of the United States of America, Washington DC on 27th – 29th of October and had the opportunity of networking, exchanging expertise and ideas with multiple representatives from different countries.
People with alternative and innovative ideas and perspectives with a huge impact on civic life met to discuss and address the contemporary challenges such as the climate change and the construction of viable cities, the mutual acceptance and the efforts for inclusive cities promoting the sense of belonging. Mr Muhammadi noted that “Among other important factors, a city can be viable when there is the sense of belonging for every citizen. A viable and an inclusive city needs active citizens”.
The Greek Forum of Refugees pledges to keep working on mutual respect and acceptance within the local environment, promoting the idea of more inclusive cities.
