The GFR has raised the alarm in multiple occassions concerning the unacceptable and inhumane living conditions that take place at the hotspots and especially at the hotspot of Moria.
The overpopulation along with the insufficient provision of services and security, intensify the situation. Refugees who have already been the victims of wars and prosecutions and with many of them already in a state of post trauma stress disorder (PTSD ), are once more the victims of politics that are adopted in order to serve anything else but the interest of refugees.
Apropos to the latest conflicts at Moria, the media have given false dimensions of the event by reproducing that the conflict of some individuals is attributed to religious and political issues, while it is obvious that the conflicts are the result of the living conditions that take place for some time now. The GFR, which is always in contact with the refugees in the hotspots and constantly watches their progress along with the Refugee Communities, condemns any form of violence and the politics of the EU (the Turkey agreement) as well national politics.
Returning to the latest events, let us note that there were no casualties and no one was harmed. On the field, the Greek solidarity volunteers from the local community and from all over the world along with the refugees who live on the island, are working tirelessly for the resolution of the conflict .
We, the Refugee Communities , entities , refugee and migrant political and cultural associations in Greece, are demanding the immediate decongestion of hotspots on the islands, the cooperation and the understanding between the refugee and the local communities over the adverse conditions they endure.
We are fighting together for equal rights!
